At EDINBURGH CAR SERVICES, our MOT testing services start at just £40, and we can make booking your next test easier; just use our online booking form to choose a convenient date and time and we will confirm with you by return. Depending where you live or work, we can also come and collect your car, for a small fee, by appointment.
The MOT Test scheme is designed to ensure that all cars and light goods vehicles more than 3 years old are properly maintained and are safe to be driven on public roads. There’s no getting round it: all cars 3 years old and over require a valid MOT certificate by law, and at least once a year must be examined at an authorised MOT testing service station Edinburgh to make sure that they meet the requirements of the MOT test.
Requirements for passing the test became more stringent in 2012 as UK vehicles became subject to additional testing requirements, designed to provide a common European standard. The new checks include the testing of headlamp cleaning and levelling devices, tyre pressure monitoring systems for newer vehicles, motors on electric seats and Electronic Stability Control systems. Also being tested under the new regulations are dashboard warning lights, steering locks, and rear doors (which must be able to be opened from outside).
Some of the new testable components are subject to a “bedding in” period, and if defective will be shown as advisory on the MOT Test Certificate. At EDINBURGH CAR SERVICES we can advise you on these new requirements. Contact us if you you have any questions.
Often, a well-looked-after and regularly serviced car will cruise through its MOT. But whatever may need doing, we will get your car through it’s MOT Test as smoothly, quickly and as cost-effectively as possible.
